Xi’s visit historic: Ex PM Nepal

October 22,  Kathmandu : The ruling Nepal Communist Party (NCP) senior leader and former Prime Minister Madhav Kumar Nepal has said that the recent visit of President Xi Jinping of People’s Republic of China has taken the bilateral ties to new heights. Speaking in a programme organized by the Madan Bhandari Study Centre here in the capital today, leader Nepal argued that the visit remained highly successful and could be termed as mile stone in bilateral ties between two countries.

He said no one could be worried with the visit as it has given positive message to all. Speaking in the same programme, NCP leader Ghanashyam Bhusal said the visit has paved a strong way to working together for Nepal’s prosperity and development. Bhusal viewed that Nepal was already a land-linked country and Chinese President Xi Jinping’s visit helped further supported to validate Nepal’s status as land-linked country.

On the occasion, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Health and Population Upendra Yadav opined that the two-day state visit of Chinese President to Nepal had further consolidated the ties between Nepal and China. Yadav held the view that the visit had increased the prospects of augmenting cooperation between the two countries for socio-economic development and development of physical infrastructure.

He also opined that the visit had increased the prospects on increasing more Chinese investment in Nepal and the visit also helped draw the attention of the international arena towards Nepal. Likewise, Minister for Culture, Tourism and Civil Aviation Yogesh Kumar Bhattarai argued that the Chinese President had propelled international image of Nepal further higher.

According to him, the Sino-Nepal tie was not just a diplomatic ties and Xi’s visit had catapulted the ties to become strategic one. He was hopeful that Xi’s visit would help attract more Chinese tourists to Nepal and support the government’s campaign of Visit Nepal 2020.
