Digital TV operators to start separate association

Kathmandu: Digital TV operators of Nepal are preparing to establish a separate association with the name ‘Digital Operator Association of Nepal’.

According to the TV operators, Nepali TV operators need to unite now after Indian news channels broadcasted fake and abusive reports of Nepal recently. They said forming an association will make it convenient for the TV operators to take a collective decisions and solve any challenges in the future as well.

According to sources, Sudip Acharya, CEO of Dish Home has been given the role of president. Similarly, Rabin Subedi (Prabhu TV), Dinesh Subedi (Max TV), Prakash Ghimire (Mero TV), Binaya Bohara (Via TV), Binod Timilsina (Broad TV), Niran Raj Bhandari (Net TV) and Amit Thapa (Clear TV) are the members of the Association. The association includes Max TV, Vianet TV, Prabhu TV, Clear TV, and Subisu as member institutions.

The members said that as the role of Multi-Service operators is different, they needed to form a separate association.

The TV operators banned Aaj Tak, ABP News, Zee News and India TV in Nepal after mutual understanding with the government.
