Co-creator of mouse passes away

California: Co-creator and inventor of the computer mouse has passed away, according to his family source. He was 91.

William English, who built the first mouse in 1963, had worked on the idea of his colleague Doug Engelbert. English had built the mouse on Engelbart’s research project at the Standard Research Institute (SRI) International, an American non-profit scientific research institute and organization in California.

English had served in the US Navy till the 1950s and in the 1960s he changed his career and joined Augmentation Research Center (ARC) of SRI. English was the first person to join in Engelbart’s team.

The co-inventor died due to respiratory failure, his wife told US media outlets.

English is survived by his wife, two sons, stepdaughter and a granddaughter.
