Citizens of Lebanon march on streets to protest against govt

Kathmandu: Streets in Lebanon are buzzed with citizens protesting against the government. The people have come out to the streets to express their anger and frustration after the powerful and devastating bomb blasts that occurred on Tuesday.

The police fired tear-gas shells at the protestors to disperse the crowd. The citizens who are out for the revolt say that the country needs to change the government.

After the blasts, a member of parliament and an ambassador had tendered resignation to take part in the protest. Around 16 officials have been arrested for investigation.

Immanuel Macro, president of France, has said that the protest is very significant at this situation. According to him, France is willing to help in reconstruction of the areas in Lebabon. However, before that, the country needs some good transformation.  He opined that there should be international investigation into the incident.

The bombs exploded on Tuesday due to unsafe storage of explosives at the warehouse for six years. Altogether 2,750 tonnes of ammonium nitrate to be used in making bombs and fertilizers were stored at the warehouse. The blast has claimed 137 lives till now, and has injured more than 5,000 people. Almost 50 people are still missing.  The blast has destroyed a district in Beirut.
