Kathmandu: The government will be operating fifth round of chartered flights for repatriation of migrant workers stranded abroad due to Covid-19 crisis. The chartered flights will be operated till August 31.

Earlier, the government had decided to resume commercial flights from August 17. However, due to the increasing cases of coronavirus, the government postponed operation of regular flights.

A meeting of the Council of Ministers last week decided to suspend all flights till August 31 following the recommendation from the Covid-19 Crisis Management Center (CCMC) and experts.  The government has made a strategy to airlift 500 people every day.

Aircraft of Nepal Airlines Corporation and Himalayan Airlines and other international companies will be used for repatriation.

With the chartered flights resuming soon, 7,000 Nepalis will be able to return back to their country.

Turkish Air will be carrying Nepalis coming from Europe and America. Similarly, the government has given permission to Qatar Airways, Malindo Airways, Fly Dubai, Jazeera Airways, Korean Air, Air Arabia, Etihad Airways and Silk Air to operate chartered flights.
