Finance Minister of Canada resigns from his post

 

Toronto: Canada’s Finance Minister Bill Morni has resigned from his post amid allegations of financial irregularities.

The reason for his resignation is said to be his alleged role in handing a government project to a non-governmental organization.

He resigned as Member of Parliament as well, stating that it would otherwise hamper the image of Prime Minister Justin Trudeau.

Authorities have reportedly collected some evidences about his involvement with WE Charity, which was involved in the scam.

The government had given the responsibility of organizing a students’ volunteers event worth US $ 670 million to the WE Charity.

Minister Morni has denied that he received transportation cost from WE Charity.  “I am resigning from the post of Finance Minister and Member of Parliament,” he said.
