Helambu preparing for bungy jumping
Melamchi: Helambu Rural Municipality has decided to build a suspension bridge for bungy jumping.
The proposed suspension bridge will be 173 meters high and 370 meters long and will be set up at a popular tourist destination.
“We have already signed an agreement with Uma Thani Himshikhar Joint venture. The total cost for the construction is Rs 20.35 million,” said Nima Gyaljen Sherpa, chairman of the rural municipality.
Reportedly, the construction work will begin only after Dashain. Chairman Sherpa said that this will help the municipality to attract more tourists. Helambu is popular for its natural beauty and cultural richness. The chairman said that they are also constructing 60 km foot trail which resembles The Great Wall of China.
