Single doctor handling patients in Manang
Manang: Although the number of Covid-19 cases are increasing in Manang, the district hospital here has only doctor. Due to the lack of human resources, the patients are compelled to take service from only one doctor.
Though there is no lack of doctors in urban areas, rural areas mostly face shortage of doctors.
Currently, Dr Santosh Adhikari, medical officer and the focal person of the hospital, is the only person present at the District Hospital of Manang.
The hospital was already facing shortage of doctors. The matter turned worse when Gandaki Province transferred a doctor to Pokhara. Chief District Officer of Manang, Dhurba Giri, said that the patients are forced to depend on one doctor and a single hospital now.
“As we have only one doctor now, there is no one as alternative in case the doctor has some emergency or falls ill. So, we have been discussing to resolve this issue,” said Giri.
