Nepal Bank introduces special scheme for female students

Kathmandu: Nepal Bank Limited has decided to provide high rate of interest to female students up to higher secondary level who open account with the bank.

The girl students of Changu Narayan Municipality will be opening a bank account with Nepal Bank at the behest of the local unit. The bank and the municipality have signed an agreement under a scheme ‘Bachat Khata Chori Ko, Surakchya Jiwanbhariko’. According to the agreement, the municipality will deposit Rs 4,000 in the account on behalf of the local beneficiaries every year.

As per the agreement, the account holders don’t have to pay inter-bank transactions.

The account opened on the recommendation of municipality will also have insurance coverage up to Rs 3,00,000.

Both the girls and their parents can deposit money in the accounts. Through this program, the municipality aims to ensure quality education and security to the girl students.

The girl students will be allowed to collect the money from the bank account only after they pass 12th grade.

Similarly, the bank and municipality has also done an agreement on ‘Mayor Entrepreneurship Development Program’.

Krishna Bahadur Adhikari, CEO of the Bank, the ones who have met a certain criteria can apply for the loan for entrepreneurs.

He said that this kind of loan will help the migrant returnees to start self-employment, women entrepreneurship development, and other youths to engage in entrepreneurship.

Nepal Bank has 189 branches, 125 ATM and 29 extension counter.
