One in 10 people in the world may have contracted coronavirus: WHO
According to the World Health Organization (WHO), 10 percent of the world’s population has been infected by coronavirus. There are some 35.2 million coronavirus cases so far and more than one million people have lost their lives because of the pandemic.
Around the world, 24.5 million people have recovered. The WHO said that 1 out of every 10 people have been infected .
According to the BBC, experts have said that though the number of proven cases is 35.2 million, there are more positive cases that are yet to be verified.
The UN health agency has said that majority of world remains at risk and has called for collective action against the Covid-19.
Michael Ryan, executive director of WHO health emergencies, said during a special session of WHO’s 34 member executive board that the figures vary from urban to rural areas and between different groups. “The vast majority of the world remains at risk,” he said.
Ryan said that the pandemic would continue to evolve.
