PM Oli urges on advancement of postal service

Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli stressed on the need to transform the postal service on the occasion of the 146^th World Post Day.

This day is celebrated to mark the establishment of Universal Postal Union (UPU), which was started in 1874 in Switzerland.

He said that the postal service has to work effectively and has to be competitive.

The World Post Day is celebrated on October 9 each year. According to experts, good network of post offices allows government to effectively implement programmes like taxation, social security and other administrative tasks. Effective postal network can also add fuel to the growth of ecommerce.
