Party split weakens democracy: Lawmaker Sharma
Lawmaker at the National Assembly Dinanath Sharma on Friday said that democracy would weaken with the split of political parties. Putting his view at the NA’s seventh session, he said his party was on the verge of division and the assembly was being run in an unusual situation in the wake of the dissolution of the House of Representatives (HoR).
“I was happy in a history of politics when present federal parliament came into existence. But, I have felt heartbroken following the party split. Political causes split the party, but not the principles. This is sad,” he expressed despair over the recent political situation.
He however expressed hope that the NA would help the government by making policies and act as a watchdog over it in the absence of the HoR. Expressing sorrow over the death of a sugarcane farmer in course of a protest, he offered condolences to the family members of the deceased.
