Future Fronts of the Russia-Ukraine War

Deepak Kumar 15 May, 2022

When a country attacks any other country, it makes aware its army about the objective behind it, which is then implemented by the army. Everybody thought that the objective of Russia was to bring into control route of reaching the Black Sea and to secure Russia-Europe gas pipeline. But nobody thought that it was to destroy the economic-administrative infrastructure of the Ukraine too. Otherwise, the devastation of the Second World War would not have been witnessed in Ukraine. It is a political decision and not a military one the result of which the people of Ukraine are suffering.

Did Russia wanted to wrest its control over Kiev? After all, its army has returned back after reaching Kiev. In my opinion, it was a military strategy so that Ukraine put its entire power behind securing Kiev and the way to Donbas becomes clear. I had written in my earlier articles that Russia will not cross Dnieper River. Now, the decision has to be taken by the Russian President whether he wants his boundary with NATO countries or to have a buffer state in between. The future of Odesa and that of Moldova Transnistria, 25 kilometers from the former, depend on his decision. If he wants a buffer state, then the war will end in next 10-15 days and thereafter, guerilla warfare and minor skirmishes will begin. Possibility of this being so is because creating supply line in 400 to 500 kilometers is difficult for any country, especially when the Russian generals themselves destroyed everything by bombardment. We captured East Pakistan in 1971 but did not harm the basic infrastructure there. The strategy was that the people there should suffer minimal losses, but the Russian generals have themselves carried out bombardment on the Russian people who comprise 60% population of the Donbas region.

From this war, some important central points have become clear: (1) Russian intelligence agencies and military strategists are not competent. At the same time, the understanding of President Vladimir Putin is weak; otherwise, he would have known how Ukariean people will react. At some time in the past, Putin had worked with them for a long time. He should have not about their behaviour.

The economy of Russia is about to collapse. Those Russians who have means, they are fleeing Russia. As per an estimate, about 12 to 18 percent of the economy will shrink. Russia has become isolated internationally.

The same applies to the Ukranian President, Zelenskyy. He should have understood that till date, Russia and America have not come into confrontation with each other except in the case of blockade of Korea and Cuba. Hungary, Afghanistan, Crimea, Syria, etc. are its examples. Secondly, for some other country, nobody gets his army butchered, more so when Russia is a nuclear power. That is why, NATO and America and gave only the reservoir of Russian weapons they had to Ukraine. This is the reason why Ukrainian forces could not hit the Russian region by even a single bomb. But Russia has become isolated internationally. The voting in the case of resolutions brought in the United Nations show the influence of America on the world. Only five countries came in favour of Russia. It is surprising that even a country like China, except for once, was forced to remain absent.

The image of Russia has got a beating. Out of its five aircraft carriers, one has sunk with all the equipment and soldiers. The Russians are proving hollow. At the same time, America has been unsuccessful in protecting its friendly countries. Ukraine and 1971 Indo-Pak war are its glaring example.

American diplomacy has a special feature which is that it is able to find out a way out even in adverse circumstances. They have begun to prepare for the Third World War. If that is going to be a nuclear war, then how to protect from it? Recently, a meeting of defence ministers of 43 countries was held on 27 April 2002 in the defence Airport of Germany in which other than NATO / European countries, countries from Asia such as Japan, Australia, and South Korea also participated. All these countries have a plan to supply Ukraine with arms against Russia.
On the other hand, on the request of Poland and Sweden, International Donors’ Conference was held in Warsaw on 05 May 2022 in which 6.5 billion Euros were collected for rebuilding Ukraine.

Apart from this, orders have been placed with many companies of France to make bunkers which are costing about 40,000 Euros to 1.5 lakh Euros. Germany has increased its defence budget by 2% of its GDP and has given emergency budget of 100 billion Euros to the army. It has ordered to redesign 599 number of tunnels and bunkers that were made by Hitler, including metro stations on a war footing level in line with today’s needs. Britain has assigned the job of protecting its seas to its Navy, which was earlier carried out by police. All these decisions are towards making preparations if the war spreads further.
