46 gates opened, this year’s highest water level

Saptari: With the increasing flow of water, 46 sluice gates of the Koshi River have been opened. The flow is alarming and most in this year.

The barrage was now letting pass water at 3, 34,990 cusecs per second today morning at 6. This is the highest flow in this year. According to the Koshi Barrage control room, the situation is dangerous when the flow of water reaches 2, 00,000 cusec per second.

Flood Information Centre of Department of Hydrology and Meteorology has suggested the residents of Sunsari and Saptari districts to remain alert and shift to a safe place. With the increasing water level, settlements near embankment in the west and Gobargada village is inundated.

Though the authorities are trying to rescue the local of Gobargada, they are not willing to come out.
