EU to investigate on Google’s decision to takeover Fitbit

 

California: The European Commission is preparing to carry out an investigation of Google’s takeover of Fitbit, a fitness technology company based in California, USA.

Google’s parent company Alphabet had pledged to take over the tech firm. The deal, however, has not been completed.

The investigation will be completed by December 2020.

Rick Osterloh, Google’s device chief said that Google supports the investigation and they appreciate the opportunity to work with the European Commission.

Fitbit had launched its first device in 2009.

Analysts say that Google’s main reason for this decision is because they have signed partnership deals with several insurers.
