TikTok CEO Miar resigns
SanFransisco: The CEO of TikTok, a popular short video app, has resigned from his post amid US-China tensions. Kevin Miar, CEO of the app, has expressed his unhappiness on leaving the company owned by Chinese developers.
US President Donald Trump has been warning of banning ByteDance, the parent company of TikTok and WeChat, in the USA.
The users of WeChat have said that they will file a lawsuit against the decision of Trump to ban the messaging app.
Venisa Pappa, director general of Tiktok for South America, will take the role of the company’s CEO from now onwards. According to TikTok management, the role of Miar has been eclipsed by the recent political developments.
Founder of ByteDance, Yiming Jhang, said that he has been continuously trying to resolve the issues. He said that TikTok has been facing challenges in the US and India.
On August 6, US President Trump had signed an executive order to prohibit transaction with ByteDance. He has given 45 days to TikTok to look at the issue.
