‘Snack’, another Chinese video app, becomes an alternative of TikTok

        

Following the ban of TikTok in India, people have opted for another similar app named ‘Snack’. This short video operates from Singapore. However, it is developed by Chinese company Kuaishou technology.

Apart from many homegrown apps which saw rapid increase in downloads following the ban of Chinese apps, this app of Chinese origin has received a major boost.

The Economic Times reports that this video application escaped the government ban on Chinese apps. There were 34 million downloads for Snack in August and 18 million for first 15 days of September, according to media reports.

The Indian government had recently banned 118 Chinese apps, effective from the first week of September. The ban also included the popular gaming app PUBG.  Earlier, in July, the government banned 59 Chinese mobile applications which included the popular Chinese video-sharing app TokTok.
