Kathmandu: Internal flights have resumed after six months in Nepal.  The internal flights were suspended since March 24 as government imposed lockdown to curb the spread of Covid-19.

According to the criteria set by the government, airline companies will be allowed to operate only 25 percent of flights compared to normal days. Gradually, the frequency of the flights will be increased as per the demand of passengers.

Around 70-75 percent of tickets have been already booked for Buddha Air and Yeti Airlines. Although the airline companies are required to fill limited seats, they are not allowed to charge extra amount for the tickets. The airline companies have said that they will fly at normal rate.

Earlier, the government had announced lifting a ban on air service from August 17. However, the government took back the decision after a surge in number of coronavirus cases.

Currently, the government has eased the prohibitory orders in various places in Nepal. Similarly, hotels, restaurants and other businesses have started opening following safety protocols.
