Ecommerce giant Amazon has said it has connected with around 1,00,000 shops and grocery stores across India. It has connected with them to facilitate delivery of packages for the festive season, writes The Economic Times.

Many offline retailers, grocery stores and other local shops will participate in the great Indian festivals that are just around the corner. This approach and system will help the shop owners develop a digital presence and also expand their reach beyond the local market, insists Amazon.

The company is focused on growing MSME partners with the help of technology.

Amazon, which launched this program in April this year,  has more than 20,000 retailers in 400 cities. The cities include Meerut, Ludhiana, Saharanpur, Surat, Indore, Ernakulam and Kanchipuram. More than 40 percent sellers are from outside the top 10 cities.

Similarly, Walmart-owned Flipkart has 50,000 grocery shops to strengthen supply chain and delivery capabilities during the festive season.

With this, Flipkart has significantly expanded its onboarding programme to make deliveries to customers in more than 850 cities, it said.

Clothes, home appliances, electronics are some of the products in high demand during the Dusshera and Diwali festivals.
