Indian govt planning to shut down pollutant coal mines over concerns on climate change

नेपालखोज २०७७ असोज २१ गते ११:११

The Indian government may force to shut down highly pollutant coal plants because of their negative impact on the environment.

The energy ministry had reportedly decided to cap the plants’ so called heat rate.

The Economic Times writes that power stations with total of  10 gigawatts have been identified as the ones violating the criteria. The energy ministry has not yet responded to comment on this, writes the ET.

The government is planning to consider this proposal of shut down because of rising outcry against air pollution and worries over climate change in India. The shut down can bring use of more efficient facilities which have not been utilised for many years.
