Experts share importance of vocational education at NRNA Knowledge Conference

Kathmandu: Experts shared the significance of vocational education during the second edition of Knowledge Conference of the Non-Residential Nepal Association (NRNA).

Usha Jha, member of the National Planning Commission (NPC), said that vocational education helps in creating employment. “The government has kept vocational education in priority,” she said.

During the program, Rajendra Khetan, president of Nepal Britian Chamber of Commerce and Industries and chairman of Laxmi Bank and Prime Life Insurance said that vocational educational is the need of time.

“Giving practical education will help in raising the living standard. Providing skill based and vocational trainings will not only help the citizens but also help in economy of the whole country,” said Khetan.

He said that the production from skilled human resources will help the economy of the entire country. He said that the global technological development has been possible due to vocational education.

He opined that though vocational education is getting recognized in Nepal, research and development is still lacking.

Dr Ram Hari Lamichhane, director general of Plan Staff College said that there are demand of various skills in the global market. But, in Nepal the education is still based on theoretical approach, Lamichhane said.
