Trump supporter urges him to accept defeat

Agency: An ally of US President Donald Trump has urged him to quit his effort to overturn his loss to president-elect Joe Biden.

Former New Jersey Governor Chris Christie called Trump’s legal team as a “national embarrassment”.

US President Trump refused to concede the election defeat. Many Republicans also have supported his effort.

BBC writes that president-elect Biden is projected to defeat Trump by 306 to 232 in the US electoral college.

The states have been certifying their election results. The Guardian writes that Trump’s last-ditch efforts will entail desperate pleas to Republican state lawmakers in hopes they will ignore their state laws and somehow skew the election to favor his reelection.

The recounts have also repeatedly failed to overrule the victory of Joe Biden.
