NepalKhoj Report 14 Dec, 2025

Kathmandu. The Lumbini Lions have secured the championship in the second edition of the Nepal Premier League (NPL). Lumbini triumphed over Sudurpaschim Royals by six wickets in the final match.

Following their victory, Lumbini’s captain Rohit Kumar Paudel expressed that the team’s high morale was key to their success. He stated, From the start, we believed we would win the title. All the teams united, and we emerged as champions.

Rohit, who guided the team to this achievement, was awarded a car for being named Player of the Tournament. Rohit was a pivotal player in Lumbini’s victory, finishing second in the season’s top scorers with 276 runs and also taking 10 wickets in bowling.

He excelled as a batsman as well, earning a Pulsar bike as the Emerging Player of the Tournament. After finishing as runners-up for the second time in a row, Sudurpaschim’s coach Jagat Tamata lamented that all their hard work throughout the tournament seemed wasted as the final did not go in their favor.

He remarked, We had been putting in hard work for a month with the aim of winning the title, but our loss in the final rendered all our efforts futile. Coach Tamata pointed out that their batting struggles were the primary cause of the defeat. He noted, After winning the toss and opting to bat, we posted a low score, which allowed the opposing team to secure an easy victory.
