12 airline companies submit proposals for flight operation
Kathmandu: Airline companies have shown their interest in resuming their service after almost five months of suspension of domestic and international flights.
As of August 3, altogether 12 airline companies have submitted proposals for operating international flights to and from Tribhuvan International Airport (TIA).
The 12 airline companies including two from Nepal have proposed to the Civil Aviation Authority of Nepal (CAAN) about resuming regular flights, informed Raj Kumar Chhetri, spokesperson of CAAN.
The airlines including Nepal Airlines, Himalaya Airlines, Indigo Air of India, Air China and China Southern from China, Salam Air from Oman, Jazeera air from Kuwait, Fly Dubai of the UAE, Malaysian Air, Malindo Air, Air Arabia and Turkish Airlines had submitted proposals for regular flights.
The government has already announced resuming domestic and international flights. Domestic and international airlines are making preparations for resuming flights accordingly.
Among the flights coming to Nepal, Malinda Air has requested to conduct 15 flights in a week. Similarly, Malaysian Air and Air Arabia have asked permission for five flights per week. Likewise, Fly Dubai, Salam Air and Indigo Air have requested for seven flights per week, while Turkey has sought permission for six flights and Jazeera has requested for a single flight. China Southern and Air China have also requested for one flight per week.
