Qatar fixes minimum salary for workers

 

Agency:  The government of Qatar has fixed the minimum wage for workers. According to Al Jazeera, the government has fixed the wage of 1,000 Qatari Riyal as the minimum wage for labourers.

Along with that, Qatar has fixed allowance of 500 Qatari Riyal and 300 Riyal for food. It is reported that from now onwards, the workers will get minimum of Rs 1800 Qatari Riyal as salary and allowance.

Similarly, Qatar has also cancelled the requirement for workers to take permission from employers while switching their jobs. The workers, however, have to inform the employers one or two months prior to leaving job.

This provision for minimum salary will come into effect six months from now. International Labor Organization has welcomed this decision of Qatar government.
