Chitwan Medical College begins plasma therapy for coronavirus patients
Chitwan: Chitwan Medical College has started plasma therapy. The medical college is using plasma therapy to treat a 52-year-old woman from Hetauda Sub-metropolitan City-11.
According to Ramesh Kant Paudel, chief of the Regional Blood Centre, the hospital has injected two packets of B-positive plasma to the woman. Two people who recovered from Covid-19 had donated the plasma. According to Paudel, the plasma has been injected in the woman’s body.
The people who have recovered from coronavirus can donate blood for this treatment 14 days after recovery. Their blood particles are collected and the plasma is used as anti-body in the patient’s body. Doctors say that this will lessen the death rate among the people.
People above 18 years can donate plasma. Plasma is the largest part of the blood. According to managing director of Chitwan Medical College, Dr Harish Chandra Neupane, they have just begin the treatment. “Gradually, we will provide this treatment to other patients,” he informed.
