Parliamentary sub-committees formed to study national economy

 

Kathmandu: The Finance Committee of Parliament has formed four sub-committees to study the economic situation of the country.

Tuesday’s meeting of the Finance Committee decided to form the sub-committees for studying various aspects of public expenditure, procurement, investment and management of national pride projects; revenue department; banks and financial institutions; and public institutions.

The coordinators for these sub-committees are Julie Kumari Mahato, Padam Giri, Met Mani Chaudhary and Satya Pahadi. Chairperson of the committee Krishna Prashad Dahal said that the sub-committees have been formed to study various areas of the country’s economy.

During the meeting of the Finance Committee, Dr Baburam Bhattarai pointed out to the need of a detailed study of various areas of economy. He said that it is necessary to identify the challenges faced by the political economy of the country. Bhattarai opined that the country need to know about the progress of economic structure.

Similarly, former finance minister Surendra Pandey said that a study of the economic structure is essential.
