Agency: During the ‘13th Fifth-Year plan’ of China, more than 50 million rural settlements have come out of the poverty zone, reports the National Poverty and Population Bureau of the People’s Republic of China.

In 2016, the poverty rate in China was 4.5 percent. In 2019, the rate has reduced to 0.6 percent. Officials said that the Chinese government has become successful to alleviate poverty.

The bureau said that during the ‘13th five-year plan’, the income of poor people has drastically increased. According to the report, in 2016 the per capita income was 4,142 Yuan and this has increased to 9,057 Yuan in 2019.

The average annual growth in income is now 30 percent.  Though UN has set the aim of 2030 for Global Poverty Alleviation, China is expected to complete the target earlier.
