Facebook staff ‘forced’ to come to office despite fear of Covid 19

Agency: More than 200 staffers of Facebook from around the world have accused the company of forcing the staff to come back to the office.

The workers collectively issued an open letter that wrote that the company was ‘needlessly risking’ lives for profits. They demanded Facebook to allow remote work and offer benefits such as hazard pay.

According to BBC, a spokesperson for Facebook said that they need to have open internal dialogue and it needs to be honest. The spokesperson said that majority of 15,000 global content reviewers have been working from home.

  In August, the social networking site said that the staff could work from home to prevent contraction of the disease. According to Facebook, its staff could work remotely until summer of 2021.

The company has also hired thousands of contractors, who also work for other companies including Accenture, CPL to spot contents which violate policies.
