Mahendranagar: Youths who returned to their country amid coronavirus crisis have now started returning back to India in search of jobs. Despite the upcoming Dashain festival, youths of western Nepal are moving to India because of financial hardship.

Around 237 youths have already left the country through Gauriphanta and Gaddachauki border points as of Monday morning. “Earlier, we could observe crowd of Nepali migrant workers returning to their homes to celebrate Dashain,” said Amar Bahadur Thapa, spokesperson of District Police Office, adding, “Even the biggest festival could not stop them from returning back to job.”

India is a preferred job destination for the residents of the Far-West region. Due to the lockdown in India, around 2,00,000 youths had to return back to Nepal.

But now, they are forced to return back to India because of lack of employment opportunity in their place.

There are many who are traveling with their children. “Surviving and feeding our children is more important than celebrating festivals,” added Kallu Tamata, a migrant worker “We can celebrate festivals later if we survive first.”

Junga Bahadur Malla, president of Kanchanpur Chamber of Commerce and Industry said that the youths are jobless since the last seven months and they have no source of income to feed themselves.
