Chinese Journalist jailed for four years

Agency: Chinese Journalist covered Wuhan’s coronavirus outbreak has been jailed for four years, according to BBC.

The journalist named Zhang Zhan was detained was detained and was on hunger strike for several months. 37-year old Zhang is a former lawyer.

There is no free media in China.  The authorities keep arresting activists or whistleblowers who undermine the Chinese government’s response to the outbreak.  

Zhang traveled some 400 miles from Shanghai to Wuhan in early February to report the pandemic with an attempt to control it.

According to CNN, Zhang had a feeding tube attached to her nose and mouth and her hands were tied to prevent her from removing the device.
