  Nepal Academy developing curriculum on traditional music instrument

Kathmandu: Nepal Academy of Music and Drama is preparing a curriculum related to instruments of traditional Nepali folk music.

According to Ashok Rai, in-charge of the academy’s music department, the proposed curriculum is being developed to impart knowledge about our culture and traditional music.

The curriculum includes introduction to theoretical and practical knowledge about musical instruments like Tungna, Sarangi, Sahanai, Madal, Chyabrung, Damfu, Dhol, Murali, Basuri, Murchung, Binayo and other traditional musical instruments.

According to him, the course is targeted towards the students from intermediate or higher secondary level. The book also has a chapter about learning musical skills, which is expected to help create employment opportunities in the country.
